As part of the registration process, users can add custom data that is assigned to their SafeConsole READY devices.
This custom data is viewable to the admins through the SafeConsole web portal. A SafeConsole admin can determine what information they want to collect from Users during registration.
The example below shows how to prompt the users for the Asset Tag and the external numeric serial number that is on the DataLocker SafeConsole READY Devices. This is different than the internal serial number that the SafeConsole server normally sees.
This process can easily be modified to collect an organization's internal asset tag as well as any other custom information desired.
ENABLE THE USER INFORMATION FOR ALL DEVICES IN A POLICY
Log into your SafeConsole server.
Under Manage in the menu on the left-hand side, select Policies.
Select the Policy you wish to modify and select Modify Custom/Default Policy.
In the Policy Editor, check the box that says Enable Device Information on all Devices.
Token Name: ext-sn.
Token Description: External Serial Number.
Click Save in the top right-hand corner of the Policy Editor.
INPUT THE EXTERNAL SERIAL NUMBER INTO THE DEVICE USER INTERFACE
- Plugin the Datalocker drive to your computer and run the executable.
- When prompted, enter the External Serial Number of the device.
- Press the "Next Button" in the bottom right-hand corner.

Note: The System Admin will not have to do this for every device. This is a policy that is pushed out and the User will be prompted to enter the Serial Number either after receiving the policy or during registration.
VIEW THE EXTERNAL SERIAL NUMBER IN THE CONSOLE
Login to your Safeconsole server.
Under Manage in the menu on the left-hand side, select Devices.
In the top bar select Options > Show Custom Fields.
You can now see the External Serial Number in the device information table.
