This article will walk you through two different ways a password can be reset on the Sentry EMS, Sentry One and the D300M/SM. The first method will show how the device policy should be modified to allow the end user to reset the password. The second policy method will show how to only allow the system administrator to reset the password on the device.

Policy Option One: Allowing the End User to initiate a Device Password Reset

Password Policy Settings:

1. Set the Password Reset option to Allowed under the General Password Settings.

2. Leave the “Only allow admins to view recovery codeunchecked.

Advanced Policy Settings:

1. Set the Online Account Access to All Users.

Save the Policy - The End User will now have the ability to Reset their Password.

User Password Reset Process

1. Click the Password Help Button in the bottom right hand corner of the Device Unlocker.

2. Click the Reset Password Button.

3. An email will be sent to the end user with the Recovery Token Instructions.

4. Place the token in the blank field within the Device Unlocker Interface and click Continue.

5. The device will now reset the password and prompt the user to create a new password.

Policy Option Two: Allowing only the System Administrator to initiate a Device Password Reset.

Password Policy Settings:

1. Set the Password Reset option to Allowed under the General Password Settings.

2. Check the “Only allow admins to view recovery code” box.

Advanced Policy Settings

*Note: The policy will need to be saved as a new policy instead of a policy revision, and applied to all relevant devices.
