Logging Error for SafeConsole On-Premises 5.2.2:


In SafeConsole version 5.2.2 with Active Directory integrated, successful logins will be incorrectly recorded in System Messages as failed logins. 


Note: Full logging of successful logins will become available in version 5.2.3. 


Before You Begin


Please make sure that the user applying the resolution below has full administrative rights on the local machine. 


The needed files to apply for this fix are attached at the bottom of this article.

Note: Windows 10 is the operating system used for this guide. 


Steps to Follow:


Step 1. Run Command Prompt as Administrator





- Locate the Windows Tab in the bottom left hand corner of your desktop


- In the search bar type in CMD


- Right click on the Command Prompt executable and click "Run as Administrator"



Step 2. Stop the SafeConsole Service 


- In the Command Prompt window type the following command:

    "net stop safeconsole"


- The Command Prompt will alert you when the service has successfully stopped. 

    "The SafeConsole service was stopped successfully"



Step 3. Locate the "META-INF" file within the SafeConsole Directory


- Locate the "META-INF" file by following the default file path below

    This PC > C: Drive > Program Files (x86) > safeconsole > webapps > safeconsole


Note: The beginning path may be different if the SafeConsole directory 

was pointed to a different location during the initial install. 



Step 4. Replace the "context.xml.template" with the updated file



- Paste the new "context.xml.template" file into the "META-INF" Folder 


- Select "Replace the file in the destination"


- Allow the Administrator Permissions by clicking Continue


Step 5. Locate the "safeconsole" folder that holds the "safeconsole.xml.template"


- Locate the "safeconsole.xml.template" file by following the default file path below

    This PC > C: Drive > Program Files (x86) > safeconsole > conf > Catalina > safeconsole


Note: The beginning path may be different if the SafeConsole directory 

was pointed to a different location during the initial install. 



Step 6. Replace the "safeconsole.xml.template" with the updated file



- Paste the new "safeconsole.xml.template" file into the "safeconsole" Folder 


- Select "Replace the file in the destination"


- Allow the Administrator Permissions by clicking Continue



Step 7. Rerun the SafeConsoleConfigurator.exe


- The Configurator can be located in the file path below

      This PC > C: Drive > Program Files (x86) > safeconsole >SafeConsoleConfigurator.exe


Note: The beginning path may be different if the SafeConsole directory 

was pointed to a different location during the initial install. 



- Navigate though all 5 steps of the Configurator by clicking the right Green Arrow


- Do not change any settings in the Configurator


- When promoted to start SafeConsole click Yes
