After an updating your IronKey device, you may receive "AppEngine error (29): IKUserPrefs_BoxRead - invalid data" when starting the Secure Backup program within the IronKey Control Panel.

You can resolve this issue by deleting the application from your IronKey. Here is how:

  1. Open the IronKey Secure Files Volume by clicking on "Secure Files" in the IronKey Control Panel.
  2. Open the "IronKey-System-Files" folder.

    Note: If you cannot see the folder, go to the "Tools" menu (XP) or "Organize" menu (Vista), select "Folder Options", go to the "View" tab, then enable "Show hidden files and folders".
  3. Delete the "IKSecureBackUp" folder.
  4. Finally, click on the "Secure Backup" button in the Control Panel to automatically re-install the Secure Backup application.
